The journey begins in Hushe, the gateway to the high Karakoram. The trek to the Charakusa base camps follows some of the most scenic routes in Baltistan, passing through summer pastures and glacial moraines. It is the perfect balance of adventure and accessibility.

32-Day K6 & K7 Expedition Itinerary: Charakusa Valley

Experience the pinnacle of Karakoram rock climbing with our 32-day itinerary. This journey takes you from Islamabad to the granite heart of the Hushe Valley.

Phase 1: Arrival and Journey to Baltistan

Day 01: Arrival in Islamabad – Meet and greet at the airport; transfer to the hotel for orientation.
Day 02: Islamabad to Skardu (Air) or Chilas (Road) – Take a scenic flight over the Himalayas or drive along the historic Karakoram Highway.
Day 03: Skardu Arrival & Briefing – Final preparations in Skardu. Afternoon briefing at the Ministry of Tourism office.
Day 04: Drive to Hushe Village – Take a 4×4 Jeep through the scenic Shigar and Ghangche districts to the gateway of the high peaks.

Phase 2: Trekking to Charakusa Glacier

Day 05: Trek from Hushe to Saicho – Take a gentle acclimatization trek to the verdant campsite of Saicho (approx. 3,330m).
Day 06: Trek to K6 & K7 Base Camp – Ascend to the Charakusa Glacier and establish base camp among towering granite spires.

Phase 3: The Climbing Period

Day 07 – 26: Expedition Climbing Days – 20 days dedicated to scaling the technical faces of K6 (7,281m), K7 (6,934m), or surrounding granite towers like Kapura and Niza Peak.

Phase 4: Descent and Departure

Day 27 – 28: Trek back to Hushe Village – Descend the glacier and celebrate the expedition with local Balti porters.
Day 29: Drive to Skardu – Return for the official de-briefing at the Ministry of Tourism.
Day 30: Skardu to Islamabad (Air) or Besham (Road) – Catch the mountain flight or drive back via the Indus River gorge.
Day 31: Contingency Day / Return to Islamabad – Free day for sightseeing in Islamabad or completion of the road journey.
Day 32: Onward Destination – Transfer to the airport for your international flight

Logistics & Transport

Domestic Travel: Round-trip Islamabad–Skardu flights, with road transport via Chilas or Besham if flights are canceled.
Ground Operations: All airport transfers and 4×4 Jeep transport between Skardu and Askole or Hushe.
Luggage Allowance: 75 kg each way inward; 50 kg per person return.

Accommodation & Base Camp Infrastructure

City Stays: Stay 3 nights in Islamabad (air-conditioned rooms) and 3 nights in Skardu (Bed & Breakfast).
Trek & Camp Life: Full-board meals provided during the trek and at Base Camp. Individual D-4 style tents with mattresses provided at Base Camp.
